e413cfefc2 feat(utils): define file config (#13283)
** What
 - Allow auto-loaded Medusa files to export a config object.
 - Currently supports isDisabled to control loading.
 - new instance `FeatureFlag` exported by `@medusajs/framework/utils`
 - `feature-flags` is now a supported folder for medusa projects, modules, providers and plugins. They will be loaded and added to `FeatureFlag`

** Why
 - Enables conditional loading of routes, migrations, jobs, subscribers, workflows, and other files based on feature flags.

```ts
// /src/feature-flags
import { FlagSettings } from "@medusajs/framework/feature-flags"
const CustomFeatureFlag: FlagSettings = {
  key: "custom_feature",
  default_val: false,
  env_key: "FF_MY_CUSTOM_FEATURE",
  description: "Enable xyz",
}
export default CustomFeatureFlag
```

```ts
// /src/modules/my-custom-module/migration/Migration20250822135845.ts
import { FeatureFlag } from "@medusajs/framework/utils"
export class Migration20250822135845 extends Migration {
  override async up(){ }
  override async down(){ }
}
defineFileConfig({
  isDisabled: () => !FeatureFlag.isFeatureEnabled("custom_feature")
})
c5d609d09c fix(orchestration): Prevent workf. cancellation to execute while rescheduling (#12903)
**What**
Currently, when cancelling async workflows, the step will get rescheduled while the current worker try to continue the execution leading to concurrency failure on compensation. This pr prevent the current worker from executing while an async step gets rescheduled
ec56a8bc85 fix(medusa,utils,test-utils,types,framework,dashboard,admin-vite-plugin,admin-bundler): Fix broken plugin dependencies in development server (#11720)
**What**
- Reworks how admin extensions are loaded from plugins.
- Reworks how extensions are managed internally in the dashboard project.
**Why**
- Previously we loaded extensions from plugins the same way we do for extension found in a users application. This being scanning the source code for possible extensions in `.medusa/server/src/admin`, and including any extensions that were discovered in the final virtual modules.
- This was causing issues with how Vite optimizes dependencies, and would lead to CJS/ESM issues. Not sure of the exact cause of this, but the issue was pinpointed to Vite not being able to register correctly which dependencies to optimize when they were loaded through the virtual module from a plugin in `node_modules`.
**What changed**
- To circumvent the above issue we have changed to a different strategy for loading extensions from plugins. The changes are the following:
  - We now build plugins slightly different, if a plugin has admin extensions we now build those to `.medusa/server/src/admin/index.mjs` and `.medusa/server/src/admin/index.js` for a ESM and CJS build.
  - When determining how to load extensions from a source we follow these rules:
    - If the source has a `medusa-plugin-options.json` or is the root application we determine that it is a `local` extension source, and load extensions as previously through a virtual module.
    - If it has neither of the above, but has a `./admin` export in its package.json then we determine that it is a `package` extension, and we update the entry point for the dashboard to import the package and pass its extensions a long to the dashboard manager.
**Changes required by plugin authors**
- The change has no breaking changes, but requires plugin authors to update the `package.json` of their plugins to also include a `./admin` export. It should look like this:
```json
{
  "name": "@medusajs/plugin",
  "version": "0.0.1",
  "description": "A starter for Medusa plugins.",
  "author": "Medusa (https://medusajs.com)",
  "license": "MIT",
  "files": [
    ".medusa/server"
  ],
  "exports": {
    "./package.json": "./package.json",
    "./workflows": "./.medusa/server/src/workflows/index.js",
    "./.medusa/server/src/modules/*": "./.medusa/server/src/modules/*/index.js",
    "./modules/*": "./.medusa/server/src/modules/*/index.js",
    "./providers/*": "./.medusa/server/src/providers/*/index.js",
    "./*": "./.medusa/server/src/*.js",
    "./admin": {
      "import": "./.medusa/server/src/admin/index.mjs",
      "require": "./.medusa/server/src/admin/index.js",
      "default": "./.medusa/server/src/admin/index.js"
    }
  },
}
```
1560d7ed5f breaking: Standalone builds (#9496)
Fixes: FRMW-2742
In this PR, we fix the build output of the backend source code, which eliminates a lot of magic between the development and production environments.
Right now, we only compile the source files from the `src` directory and write them within the `dist` directory.
**Here's how the `src` directory with a custom module looks like**
```
src
├── modules
│   └── hello
│       ├── index.ts
```
**Here's the build output**
```
dist
├── modules
│   └── hello
│       ├── index.js
```
Let's imagine a file at the root of your project (maybe the `medusa-config.js` file) that wants to import the `modules/hello/index` file. How can we ensure that the import will work in both the development and production environments?
If we write the import targeting the `src` directory, it will break in production because it should target the `dist` directory.
## Solution
The solution is to compile everything within the project and mimic the file structure in the build output, not just the `src` directory.
**Here's how the fixed output should look like**
```
dist
├── src
│  ├── modules
│  │   └── hello
│  │       ├── index.js
├── medusa-config.js
├── yarn.lock
├── package.json
```
If you notice carefully, we also have `medusa-config.js`, `yarn.lock`, and `package.json` within the `dist` directory. We do so to create a standalone built application, something you can copy/paste to your server and run without relying on the original source code.
- This results in small containers since you are not copying unnecessary files.
- Clear distinction between the development and the production code. If you want to run the production server, then `cd` into the `dist` directory and run it from there.
## Changes in the PR
- Breaking: Remove the `dist` and `build` folders. Instead, write them production artefacts within the `.medusa` directory as `.medusa/admin` and `.medusa/server`.
- Breaking: Change the output of the `.medusa/server` folder to mimic the root project structure.
- Refactor: Remove `Symbol.for("ts-node.register.instance")]` check to find from where to load the source code.
- Refactor: Use `tsc` for creating the production build. This ensures we respect `tsconfig` settings when creating the build and also perform type-checking.
e77a02aca5 feat(): Update transformer middleware and API (#6647)
**What**
Update all transform middleware to support the new API
- deprecate `defaultRelations`
- deprecate `allowedRelations`
- Add `defaults` and `allowed` in replacement for `defaultFields` and `allowedFields` respectively
- in the `defaults` it is possible to specify a field such as `*variants` in order to be recognized as a relation only without specifying any property
- add support for `remoteQueryConfig` assigned to req like we have for `listConfig` and `retrieveConfig`
- add support to override `allowed|allowedFields` if a previous middleware have set it up on the req.allowed
- The api now accepts `fields` as the only accepted fields to manage the requested props and relations, the `expand` property have been deprecated. New supported symbols have been added in complement of the fields
  - `+` (e.g `/store/products?fields=+description`) to specify that description should be added as part of the returned data among the other defined fields
  - `-` (e.g `/store/products?fields=-description`) to specify that description should be removed as part of the returned data
  - `*` (e.g `/store/products?fields=*variants`) to specify that the variants relations should be added as part of the returned data among the other defined fields without having to specify which property of the variants should be returned. In the `defaults` config of the transform middleware it is also possible to use this symbol
  - In the case no symbol is provided, it will replace the default fields and mean that only the specified fields must be returned
About the allowed validation, all fields in the `defaults` configuration must be present in the `allowed` configuration.
In case the `defaults` contains full relation selection (e.g `*product.variants`) it should be present in the `allowed` as `product.variants`. In case in the `defaults` you add `product.variants.id`, it will be allowed if the `allowed` configuration includes either `product.variants.id` as full match or `product.variants` as it means that we allow all properties from `product.variants`
Also, support for `*` selection on the remote query/joiner have been added
**Note**
All v2 end points refactoring can be done separately
8c57e61cb8 feat: Refresh payment collection + delete session (#6594)
### What
Add workflow for refreshing a payment collection.
The idea is that on all cart updates, we want two things to happen (in the context of payments) 1. the currently active payment sessions should be destroyed, and 2. the payment collection should be updated with the new cart total.
We do this to ensure that we always collect the correct payment amount.
From a customer perspective, this would mean that every time something on the cart is updated, the customer would need to enter their payment details anew.
To me, this is a good tradeoff to avoid inconsistencies with payment collection.
Additionally, I updated the Payment Module interface with `upsert` and `updated` following our established convention.
### Note
This PR depends on a fix to the `remoteJoiner` that @carlos-r-l-rodrigues is working on.
Update: Fix merged in #6602
12b035cb18 chore(tests): Try to use the api integration tests for v2 (#6588)
Few things to keep in mind:
1. You need to set MEDUSA_FF_MEDUSA_V2 to true before running the tests to run with the v2 API
2. You can use the `breaking` function to differentiate between v1 and v2 differences. This can help us identify what was breaking pretty quickly afterwards
3. You will need to run specific tests for now instead of all if you want to target v2. I think that's fine though, as we don't really need these to run on every PR until we have feature parity (and by then, all tests would be both v1 and v2 compatible)
**note: Adrien**
- add a new way to load modules only to run their loaders comparable to the way to run the migrations only
- improve tests runner to cleanup the data properly as well as re running all loaders and core defaults
51bb6f1e89 Chore/integration tests modules utils (#6581)
new wrapper for medusa integration tests.
for now it is only applied to the modules directory, but it could be used in the api integration tests or any other integrations that requires a db and a server up and running.
It is not perfect, but I wanted to have something working and centralised before improving it, also avoiding too many conflicts with other prs
